A new solo performance by Ingrid Kristensen where dance, fragrance and music are merged into a sensual experience.

It has been a straightforward choice, that the first of Ingrids solo performances, where the scent and dance are developed together from the beginning was connected to the Messiah title, which many have forgotten the original meaning of. As well as most modern people overlook the impact that surrounding scents have.

"The Scented" refers to the title Messiah - masiach from Hebrew and Arabic Al-Masih, which means the anointed or the scented. Originally, the Jews used this terminology for kings and prophets or those who sacrificed themselves, because it supported the role of an important human being to be anointed in fragrant oils. The belief that a Messiah will appear exists in many religions, including Christianity and Islam.

The show is not religious, but is moving in an interpretation of the Western Christian story of creation and investigates on how to show others the way. The moon, the sea, the animal and the human being are used as objectives.

With the activation of multiple senses in a scenic experience, Ingrid Kristensen is pushing herself and the artistic product way out of the traditional forms. In a larger context, The Scented is the first part of a serie, which counts all five human senses.

In the last years Ingrid Kristensen has worked on how to simultaneously affect several senses in hes performances and has conducted a series of studies on the effect of multiple sensory impact with the audience. The findings were presented at several seminars and festivals including on Duftlab on Bramstrup Gods and XXII Festival de Teatro Hispano de Miami. It is this research work, which now forms the basis for solo work on The Scented.

The music is composed by Anders Vejen Andersen, who previously also has composed the music for Mimbre, The Shadow and Metamorphosis. Currently, he has recorded many of the sounds used in The Scented at churches situated in Syria, Spain and Denmark. It includes the Lord's Prayer in particular Aramaic, which probably was the language Jesus spoke.

Soren Skibsted has created a costume with its own builtin lights and the dress in itself symbolizes the elements of the creation. The dancing is performed by dancer Tore Asbjerg, as with body and soul performs the 22-minute long performance.
